The Scalpel Handle Straight is machined from solid surgical-grade stainless steel with an overall length of 14.5cm and a round, tapered body profile. The upper end carries a narrow tang-slot that accepts and locks standard blade sizes #10 through #15 via a key-slot fitment mechanism. The mid-section features a flat rectangular grip body with three circular thumb-rest indentations on each lateral face, providing rotational fingertip control. The lower shaft tapers to a pointed terminal end. This Straight Round Scalpel Handle design allows a pencil-style grip that supports both palmar and fingertip holding techniques.
The single-piece stainless construction has no assembled joints, threaded components, or moving parts beyond the blade-seat groove, eliminating debris-trapping recesses. This surgical knife handle withstands full steam autoclave sterilization at 134°C and remains compatible with dry heat, ethylene oxide, and chemical sterilant decontamination protocols. The corrosion-resistant body maintains its dimensional geometry and blade-locking groove alignment across repeated sterilization cycles, ensuring each blade mounts and releases securely throughout the handle’s clinical service life.
General surgeons, oral surgeons, periodontists, and dermatologists use the Scalpel Blade straight round handle during tissue incision, flap elevation, lesion excision, and wound debridement procedures. The surgeon arms the handle with a single-use blade; typically a #10 for broad incisions, a #12 for curved access, or a #15 for short, controlled cuts using forceps. The round body allows wrist rotation during curvilinear incisions without repositioning the entire hand, supporting consistent blade-to-tissue contact angles throughout the cut.
Surgeons who stock from Leader Surgical know they are choosing instruments built to the same standard on every production run, no variation, no compromise, and no surprises when the handle meets the blade and the procedure begins.
