Rongeurs Beyer Double Action
The Beyer Rongeur Double Action measures 180mm in overall length and is constructed from surgical-grade stainless steel with a satin finish. The jaw assembly terminates in two opposing scoop-shaped cups, each measuring 3mm in diameter, with sharp circumferential cutting edges that bite through cancellous and cortical bone in controlled incremental strokes. The jaw angle offsets 15 degrees from the handle axis, confirmed in the secondary designation, positioning the working tip away from the handle plane for unobstructed surgical site access. A leaf spring between the arms keeps the jaws separated between bites without manual reopening. Both handle arms carry cross-hatched knurled grip sections, and a locking screw on one arm temporarily fixes the jaw position during instrument repositioning. The Leader Surgical brand mark is engraved on the handle body.
The double-action mechanism uses two pivot joints, one near the jaw and one at mid-handle, creating a compound lever system that amplifies the closing force delivered to the 3mm cup tips. This force multiplication allows the surgeon to remove bone incrementally with significantly less grip pressure than single-action rongeurs require. The instrument is fully autoclavable at 134°C and complies with CE and ISO 13485 surgical instrument standards.
Oral and maxillofacial surgeons use the Beyer Rongeur Double Action during alveolar bone trimming after tooth extraction, removing sharp bony projections at the alveolar crest before flap closure. Neurosurgeons apply the Beyer Bone Rongeur 15° 18cm during laminectomy and posterior spinal decompression procedures for incremental bone removal.
Leader Surgical manufactures this instrument with verified 3mm cup-diameter tolerances and compound-pivot geometry, meeting the cutting force requirements of the Beyer Double Action Bone Rongeur, 18CM across both oral surgery and neurosurgical applications.
What is the “Double Action” mechanism?
The double-action (or compound joint) design uses two sets of pivot joints to amplify the force applied to the handle. This provides greater cutting power with less hand effort compared to single-action rongeurs.
