Prichard Periodontal Curette Fig. PR1/2

Double-ended periodontal instrument with spoon and flat blade ends for controlled tissue separation and periosteal elevation during flap procedures.

Key Features:
• Double-ended design with narrow spoon blade and broad rectangular blade
• Spoon-shaped curved tip for interdental and papillary tissue separation
• Flat rectangular blade for broad periosteal elevation on ridge surfaces
• Slight blade angulation for improved intraoral access without obstruction
• Long tapered shanks for controlled reach along bone contours
• Solid stainless steel construction with satin finish
• Knurled cylindrical handle with uniform ribbed grip
• Fully autoclavable with resistance to wear and surface degradation

The Prichard Periodontal Curette Fig. PR1/2 (LS1-364) is a double-ended periodontal instrument carrying two asymmetric working ends — a narrow spoon-shaped curved blade on the left end and a broader flat rectangular blade on the right end. The central handle features a knurled cylindrical grip with evenly spaced ribbing running the full middle section, transitioning into long smooth tapered shanks at both ends. Both blades angle slightly away from the instrument’s long axis to reach intraoral bone surfaces without shank interference. The full body uses solid stainless steel construction with a uniform satin finish throughout.

The narrow-left blade presents a concave spoon face suitable for tight interproximal and papillary tissue separation. The right blade carries a wider flat rectangular face with smooth lateral margins for broad periosteal stripping along open alveolar surfaces. As a Periosteal Prichard double-ended design, both working ends address separate anatomical zones within the same flap reflection procedure, eliminating mid-surgery instrument exchanges. The stainless-steel body withstands repeated steam autoclave sterilization without blade width change or handle surface pitting across sustained clinical use.

Periodontists and oral surgeons use the Prichard Periodontal Curette Fig. PR1/2 during full-thickness mucoperiosteal flap reflection in osseous resective surgery, implant site development, and guided bone regeneration. The narrow spoon end separates the interdental papilla and col tissue cleanly without tearing the margin, while the broad rectangular blade strips periosteum from flat buccal and palatal cortical surfaces in a single controlled stroke. This Prichard Instrument also appears in socket preservation and ridge augmentation cases requiring clean flap margins for membrane placement.

Leader Surgical manufactures this elevator with consistent blade dimensions and shank offset angles held to uniform tolerances across every production unit. Periodontal specialty clinics and oral surgery departments rely on it as a dependable dual-function flap instrument for both fine interproximal work and broad ridge reflection in daily surgical procedures.

In which procedures is this instrument typically used?
While primarily a periodontal tool, it is versatile enough for:

  • Dental Extractions: To loosen gingival tissues and separate the periodontal ligament.
  • Dental Implants: For flap reflection and bone exposure.
  • Oral Surgery: Including bone grafting, cyst removal, and sinus procedures.
