Large Fluch-cut Distal and Cutting Pliers T.C

A loose wire end inside the mouth is a patient safety event waiting to happen, and the Large Fluch-cut Distal and Cutting Pliers T.C (Article# LS8-118) eliminates that risk by design. Constructed from surgical-grade stainless steel at 13cm overall length, the wide rectangular cutting head carries tungsten carbide insert blades on both opposing jaw faces. A built-in safety hold channel runs across the jaw gap, a wire-retention cavity that captures the cut distal wire segment the instant the blades close, preventing it from dropping into the oral cavity.

The TC blades deliver a flush cut directly against the buccal tube exit face, leaving no protruding wire tail that could lacerate buccal mucosa between appointments. Cutting capacity covers stainless steel and NiTi archwires up to .021″ × .025″ (0.55mm × .64mm) in a single closure. Gold-tipped handles identify this as a TC-grade instrument within the kit, and a box-joint pivot maintains blade registration throughout extended clinical service. The body withstands full autoclave sterilization at 132–135°C without TC insert loosening or blade offset.

Orthodontists use the Large Flush-Cut Distal and Cutting Pliers TC during fixed orthodontic appliance therapy at every archwire insertion appointment to trim excess wire distal to the molar buccal tube on both arches. The clinician seats the cutting head flush against the tube exit, aligns the blades perpendicular to the wire axis, and applies one firm closure, the safety hold retains the trimmed segment, which is removed away from the patient.

Every archwire appointment ends with a distal trim, and Leader Surgical makes that moment safer with the Orthodontic Pliers Distal End Cutter (419), engineering the cut-and-hold mechanism directly into the jaw so patient protection is built in, not added on.

What is a “Flush-cut” Distal End Cutter?
Unlike standard cutters that leave a small “nub” of wire, a flush-cut design allows the archwire to be cut perfectly level with the end of the buccal tube. This eliminates wire protrusions that cause patient discomfort or tissue trauma.
