The Instruments Trays with Lid (Large) is a two-piece stainless steel instrument container measuring 300 × 200 × 50mm, built from medical-grade stainless steel with a mirror-polished finish on all inner and outer surfaces. The solid lid sits flush inside the tray rim and carries a central cylindrical lift knob for single-finger removal without contacting the sterile interior. The 50mm sidewall depth — the deepest in this lidded tray series — accommodates longer instrument handles, rolled dressings, and stacked gauze packs within a single contained unit. The wide 300 × 200mm base floor provides substantially more floor area than the medium variant, supporting full procedure instrument sets without crowding.
The inset lid self-locates on placement, dropping into the tray rim without requiring manual alignment during sterile field setup. This instruments tray with lid format suits procedure volumes that exceed the capacity of both shallow open trays and the medium lidded variant. The solid base retains sutures, small implant components, and liquids without any perforation-related loss. Both tray and lid autoclave repeatedly at 134°C without dimensional change, lid warping, or knob detachment.
Scrub nurses and theatre sisters use the Instruments Trays With Lid (Large) in general surgery, orthopedic, and gynecology theatres to transport and store complete procedure-specific instrument sets from the CSSD to the sterile field trolley. The deep 50mm walls make this tray the preferred Instrument Tray Box for sets containing retractors, needle holders, and longer dissection instruments.
Leader Surgical produces both components to consistent rim and knob tolerances — ensuring flush lid seating, stable autoclave performance, and long service life across repeated sterilization cycles.
Can I use the lid during autoclaving?
While lids protect instruments, they should be used with perforated trays to allow steam to penetrate and circulate effectively. If using a solid tray, the lid may need to be offset or removed to ensure proper sterilization.
