Half-moon aligner punch plier designed for creating precise relief cutouts for bonded buttons, hooks, and orthodontic attachments.

Key Features:
• Constructed from surgical-grade stainless steel with satin finish
• Crescent-shaped male-female punch tip creates clean half-moon cutouts
• Produces approximately 6.0 mm gingival-margin relief openings
• Stable circular pivot joint ensures accurate and repeatable cutting alignment
• Room-temperature operation eliminates the need for tip heating
• Removes thermoplastic cleanly without distorting adjacent aligner surfaces
• Fully autoclavable at 132–135°C without cutting-edge degradation or pivot loosening
• Designed for bonded button clearance and gingival soft-tissue relief adjustments

Hole Punch Plier

Not every tooth movement stays within the aligner alone, bonded buttons and brackets frequently enter the picture, and the aligner must make room for them. The Hole Punch Plier (Article# LS8-134) handles that task directly. Constructed from surgical-grade stainless steel with a satin finish, it features a crescent-shaped male punch tip on one beak and a precisely matched female receiving recess on the opposing jaw. This half-moon cutting geometry removes a clean, defined section of thermoplastic aligner material at the gingival margin in a single, controlled closure, no secondary trimming required.

The Clear Aligner Half Moon Punch Plier cuts a half-moon opening approximately 6.0mm across at the gingival border, generating sufficient clearance for bonded buttons, orthodontic tubes, or bracket hooks without distorting the surrounding aligner wall. The instrument requires no tip heating and functions entirely through mechanical cutting force delivered through a stable circular pivot joint. Constructed for long-term clinical use, the stainless-steel body withstands repeated autoclave sterilization cycles at 132–135°C without cutting-edge degradation or pivot misalignment.

Orthodontists use the Hole Punch Plier during clear aligner therapy whenever Class II or Class III elastic mechanics require bonded buttons on tooth surfaces. The clinician marks the gingival margin of the aligner at the target tooth; typically the upper canine and lower first molar for Class II correction, positions the crescent tip, and applies a single firm closure. The resulting cutout allows the Orthodontic Bonded Button Relief Plier-created space to accommodate the button while the aligner seats fully. The instrument also trims excess plastic impinging on soft tissue, preventing gingival irritation throughout treatment.

Practices that expand into complex elastic mechanics need instruments that keep pace, and Leader Surgical makes that possible by supplying the Hole Punch Plier as a dependable, treatment-expanding tool that brings bonded button mechanics within reach of every aligner case.

How do I choose the right hole size?
Compare the punch size to the prong of your buckle. The hole should be slightly larger than the prong so it can slip through easily. If you are unsure, start with a smaller size, you can always make a small hole larger, but you cannot make a large hole smaller.
