Dental Measuring Loop Straight
The Dental Measuring Loop Straight is built from German-grade surgical stainless steel with a passivated corrosion-resistant finish. The instrument measures approximately 17.5 cm in overall length, tapering progressively from the central body toward the working tips. Two crossed steel arms support a curved V-shaped base carrying a graduated 0–40 mm scale etched in 1 mm increments. The Castroviejo Caliper Straight tips are parallel, finely pointed, and open bilaterally to contact bone or oral tissue surfaces with direct linear alignment.
A knurled thumb-screw on the lateral shaft locks the jaw opening once measurement is recorded, preventing drift before the reading transfers to the surgical plan. The curved foot base stabilizes the instrument during open-field use. This bone measuring caliper tolerates full autoclave sterilization at 134°C and is compatible with ultrasonic cleaning and chemical disinfection. Passivation treatment guards the surface between cycles, and standard boil, performance, and shape tests are completed before dispatch.
Oral surgeons and implantologists use the Dental Measuring Loop Straight during dental implant placement surgery. After flap reflection or transmucosal ridge mapping, the surgeon positions the straight tips directly across the exposed alveolar crest. The surgical dental caliper delivers a direct buccolingual bone width reading on the graduated scale, allowing the surgeon to confirm available bone volume and select the correct implant diameter before osteotomy preparation begins.
Every instrument on a surgical tray carries responsibility, and Leader Surgical understands that better than most. Sourced to meet the demands of active implant workflows, this caliper combines verified material quality with a locking mechanism that holds under real operating conditions, giving surgical teams the confidence to plan and place with accuracy.
What is the primary purpose of a straight measuring loop?
It is used for the precise measurement of distances within the oral cavity or on dental models. Common applications include measuring bone ridge width, the depth of surgical sites, or verifying the length of endodontic files and gutta-percha points.
