Bone Mill & Basins For Bone

The Bone Mill & Basins for Bone set (Article# LS9-290 / LS9-291) pairs two functionally complementary instruments. The LS9-290 surgical bone grinding cup consists of two components: a cylindrical outer body with a C-shaped loading notch cut into the upper rim, and a separate knurled grinding insert with a dense diamond-pattern surface. Both are machined from surgical-grade stainless steel with a polished chrome finish. The notch allows direct loading of harvested bone chips into the chamber without full disassembly, reducing procedure time at the chairside.

The LS9-291 bone graft mixing basin is a smooth-walled cylindrical vessel with a mirror-polished concave interior bowl and wide upper rim. Its unobstructed interior accepts particulate bone, graft materials, saline, and biological additives for mixing prior to placement. No internal projections are present, ensuring complete material retrieval. Both instruments withstand steam autoclave sterilization at 134°C and tolerate ultrasonic bath cleaning with neutral-pH detergents. Each disassembles or stands independently for thorough reprocessing between uses.

During bone augmentation, ridge preservation, and sinus lift procedures, oral surgeons and periodontists deploy this dental bone preparation set at each workflow stage. The clinician feeds cortical or cancellous bone chips through the notch of LS9-290, inserts the knurled grinding insert, and applies rotational pressure to reduce harvested material into consistent osteoconductive particulate. The milled output is then transferred directly into the LS9-291 basin, where it is combined with saline, PRF membrane fragments, or other biologics before grafting.

Every bone grafting workflow has a starting point and a staging point, and Leader Surgical addresses both within a single, considered set. The result is a tray setup that flows from preparation to placement without interruption, exactly the way a well-designed instrument pairing should.

What is a bone mill?
A bone crusher, also known as a bone mill, is a device regularly used for crushing animal bones. Bones obtained during slaughter are cleaned, boiled in water and dried for several months. After that, they are suitable for crushing with the special machine into a relatively dry gritty powder which is used as fertilizer.
