Bone Compactor 3.0mm/4.0mm DE
The Bone Compactor Ø3.0mm/4.0mm DE is built from surgical-grade stainless steel with a knurled cylindrical handle approximately 18.5 cm in total length. Both working ends carry sharply angled shanks; the left bearing a 4mm serrated tip and the right a 3mm serrated tip in mirror orientation, with each tip surface finished in a titanium nitride coating. This physical vapor deposition layer measurably increases surface hardness and wear resistance beyond the underlying stainless-steel base, extending tip integrity across repeated high-load condensation cycles.
The titanium nitride finish on this titanium-coated bone compactor also delivers a visually distinct dark surface that creates clear visual contrast against the pale surgical field, helping the clinician track tip position accurately during active condensation without redirecting attention. The double-ended configuration provides both 3mm and 4mm serrated working ends within a single instrument, eliminating mid-procedure exchanges. The stainless-steel body withstands full steam autoclave sterilization at 134°C, and the TiN coating resists corrosion and debris adhesion through repeated sterilization cycles.
Oral and maxillofacial surgeons and implantologists use this instrument for dental bone graft condensation during alveolar socket preservation and ridge augmentation procedures. After placing particulate graft material into the prepared site, the surgeon selects the 3mm or 4mm serrated end, applies controlled vertical pressure to condense the Bone Compactor tip against the graft layer by layer, building density and stability within the defect before membrane placement and wound closure.
Instrument teams that evaluate tools beyond surface appearance, assessing coating integrity, tip geometry, and material longevity, find in Leader Surgical a supplier that meets that level of scrutiny across every product in its catalog.
Are the tips smooth or textured?
Many 3.0mm/4.0mm compactors feature serrated or rough tips. This provides better grip and control when condensing bone graft material, preventing it from slipping during the “plugging” motion.
