Bone Chip Maker 2

The Bone Chip Maker 2 (LS9-322) is a 10-component autogenous bone chip harvesting system manufactured by MCTBIO Co. Ltd., South Korea, housed in a red anodized aluminum dual-layer tray. It includes four chip-making trephines in Ø3.4, Ø3.9, Ø4.2, and Ø5.2mm diameters, each built with a Z-shaped cutting blade and a two-piece disassemblable stainless-steel body. An inner core blade attaches directly to the outer drill wall, increasing structural stability during rotation and expanding internal cavity volume for bone powder accumulation.

Four depth-control stoppers in 5, 7, 10, and 11.5mm lengths thread onto each trephine shaft, limiting penetration depth to the surgeon’s planned harvest length. The Dental Implant Bone Chip Maker Kit also includes one 8mm standard trephine for conventional bone core collection and one knurled-handle bone remover tool for ejecting collected chips from the trephine body after drilling. Bone is harvested inside the trephine body rather than the stopper, reducing material loss. All components tolerate autoclave sterilization and support up to 12 reuse cycles with proper sterilization protocols.

Oral and maxillofacial surgeons and periodontists use the MCT Bone Chip Maker II (BCM2-01) during autogenous bone grafting procedures, specifically alveolar ridge augmentation, socket preservation, and periodontal osseous defect management. The surgeon selects the trephine diameter matching the donor site, fits the appropriate stopper, and drills into the mandibular molar or incisor region using a slow-speed handpiece. The Bone Chip Maker 2 Z-blade geometry generates granulated particulate bone rather than a solid core, yielding over 30% more graft volume than conventional trephines.

Leader Surgical brings clinicians access to instruments that solve a real intraoperative problem, the chronic undersupply of viable autogenous graft material. Stocking this kit signals a commitment to offering patients the gold standard of bone grafting without outsourcing the harvest to a secondary surgical site or a bone substitute.

What are bone chips used for?
Allograft chips and cubes provide an osteoconductive scaffold for bone ingrowth and allow for remodelling with the patient’s own bone. These bone graft solutions are commonly used for filling bony voids or gaps in a patient’s skeletal system as a result of surgery or traumatic injury.
