Black Iris Scissors Straight (11.5cm )

The Black Iris Scissors Straight (11.5cm) (Article# LS9-472) measures 11.5cm in total length and carries two fine, straight blades on a full-body black ceramic-coated surgical stainless-steel frame. The black ceramic coating, applied via Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) of Titanium Aluminum Nitride bonds to the steel surface at a molecular level, adding extreme hardness and abrasion resistance while eliminating glare under surgical loupes and operating lights. The blade pair features micro-serrations on one cutting edge, visible in the close-up inset on the product image.

These Iris Serrated CeraCoat™ Scissors, 4-1/2″ (11.5cm) carry the classic ring-handle configuration with two round finger loops at the base, a single gold adjustment screw at the pivot, and long, slender shanks tapering to the fine Straight blade tips. The micro-serrated lower blade grips tissue against the opposing smooth blade during each cut stroke, preventing slippage that commonly occurs with plain-edge scissors on soft, wet tissue surfaces. The 11.5cm overall length provides a balanced shank-to-blade ratio for controlled intraoral maneuverability.

Periodontists, oral surgeons, and plastic surgeons use these Iris Scissors for suture removal, gingival tissue trimming, connective tissue graft shaping, and soft tissue dissection in periodontal flap surgeries. The straight blade orientation suits clean linear cuts along flap margins and graft edges. The serrated edge makes these scissors particularly reliable when cutting through fibrous or slippery tissue where plain blades would deflect rather than bite.

Leader Surgical delivers this instrument with a full-body black ceramic finish, consistent serration geometry, and autoclave-compatible construction, giving oral surgery and periodontal practices a durable, low-glare cutting tool built for repeated clinical use.

Can they cut heavy materials?
No. These are high-precision tools with fine tips. Using them to cut heavy bandages, thick wire, or tough cartilage can cause misalignment or chip the delicate blades.
