Angle Plier Fig.1 13.5cm

Orthodontic wire forming plier designed for controlled loop bending, hook formation, and precision shaping of round stainless-steel wires.

Key Features:
• Forged from AISI 420 surgical-grade stainless steel with high-polish corrosion-resistant finish
• 13.5cm overall length improves handling and intraoral access during wire adjustments
• Dual-beak design combines one round conical beak with one flat pyramid beak
• Round 1.0mm tapered beak supports smooth loop and spring formation
• Flat pyramid beak stabilizes wire position during controlled angular bending
• Suitable for round stainless steel wire up to 0.030″ (0.76mm)
• Box-joint hinge maintains precise jaw alignment during repeated forming procedures
• Fully autoclavable at 134°C for routine clinical and laboratory sterilization

Angle Plier Fig.1 13.5cm

The Angle Plier Fig.1 13.5cm measures 135mm in overall length and is forged from AISI 420 surgical-grade stainless steel with a high-polish finish. The jaw assembly pairs two geometrically opposite beaks: one smooth round conical beak tapering to a 1.0mm terminal tip, and one flat pyramid beak with a square-faced profile. This asymmetric configuration is confirmed by all three diagrams in the product image, the upper profiles show one round-tipped and one square-tipped beak, while the lower cross-section diagram shows the round beak nesting directly against the flat beak base during closure. Both working edges are beveled to stop jaw contact from nicking or scoring the wire surface.

The flat pyramid beak anchors the wire at a fixed contact point during forming, while the round conical beak shapes the wire into its loop geometry, a two-point control system that prevents wire rotation between strokes. The instrument handles round stainless-steel wire up to 0.030 inches (0.76mm). The box-joint hinge maintains jaw alignment, and a spring-action return separates the handles between compressions. At 13.5cm, this Fig. 1 variant is 5mm longer than the Fig. 3 model; providing additional handle clearance during intraoral access. The Flat Nose Plier 13.5cm Orthodontic designation references a related flat-jaw variant in the same catalog length category. The instrument is fully autoclavable at 134°C.

Orthodontists use the Angle Plier Fig.1 13.5cm for forming omega loops, hook bends, and round wire springs during both fixed and removable appliance procedures. Lab technicians apply it when shaping wrought wire clasp arms and forming retainer wire components requiring controlled angular bends.

Leader Surgical produces the complete Angle Plier series: Fig. 1 through Fig. 3, with verified beak-geometry tolerances, meeting Orthodontic Pliers & Cutters category standards under ISO 13485 and CE certification across all variants.

What is the maximum wire thickness this plier can handle?
Standard orthodontic pliers of this size are typically designed to bend round or rectangular wires up to 0.020″ (0.51 mm) or 0.022″ depending on the specific manufacturer’s reinforcement (e.g., Tungsten Carbide tips).
