The Young Wire Bending & Loop Forming Pliers 13.5cm measure 135mm in overall length and are forged from surgical-grade stainless steel with a hand-polished finish. The jaw assembly pairs two structurally distinct beaks: one cylindrical three-step beak carrying graduated diameter rings at 2mm, 3mm, and 4mm, and one solid triangular beak with a flat-pyramidal face. Both profiles are clearly visible in the jaw close-up thumbnails in the product image. A pair of closing grooves at the beak base allows the operator to close small multi-loops without repositioning the wire.
The box-joint hinge maintains strict jaw alignment across repeated compression cycles. The handles are wide, flat-sided, and step-angled toward the jaw. The instrument handles rectangular wire up to 0.022″ × 0.025″ (0.53mm × 0.64mm) and round wire up to 0.028″. Orthodontic Pliers | Dental Pliers of this stepped-cylindrical design are catalogued separately from loop-forming pliers that use flat or grooved beaks, the diameter-specific steps control loop size directly at the bend point. The instrument is fully autoclavable at 134°C.
Orthodontists use the Young Wire Bending & Loop Forming Pliers 13.5cm during fixed appliance therapy to form vertical loops, activation loops, and archwire springs in stainless steel wire. The Young Loop Forming Orthodontic Plier is also standard in dental laboratories for sizing Hawley retainer bow loops and closing springs on removable appliance frameworks.
Leader Surgical applies consistent ISO-compliant production standards across its full orthodontic range, and this young plier reflects that same standard, delivering reliable stepped-beak geometry and closing groove alignment across every clinical use.
What is the tip design?
The instrument features a “universal” dual-beak design: one side is a three-step cylindrical beak for forming different loop diameters, and the other is a flat, grooved beak for gripping and sharp-angle bending.
