The T/C Micro Suture Tying Forceps is constructed from surgical-grade stainless steel with an 18cm overall length and a straight, single-spring shaft design. The slender jaws taper to atraumatic fine tips incorporating tungsten carbide inserts, indicated by the gold-plated lower handle, the universal industry marker for TC instrumentation. A flat tying platform is positioned near the jaw tips, providing a slightly elevated surface that holds fine suture material flat during knot formation rather than relying solely on tip-to-tip contact. These micro suture tying forceps have a circumferential diamond-knurled mid-handle grip.
The tungsten carbide tip inserts are approximately ten times harder than standard stainless steel, maintaining their jaw surface geometry through repeated sterilization cycles without grip degradation. These TC tissue forceps withstand full steam autoclave sterilization at 134°C and are compatible with ethylene oxide and chemical sterilant protocols. The single-piece spring-action body has no locking mechanism, no assembled joints, and no box-lock construction, eliminating debris-trapping crevices and simplifying post-procedure decontamination.
Ophthalmic surgeons, plastic surgeons, and neurosurgeons rely on Suture Tying Forceps during cataract extraction, corneal repair, vessel anastomosis, nerve repair, and fine skin closure procedures. The surgeon grasps suture material typically, 7-0, 8-0, or finer gauge, between the tying platform surfaces, controls suture tail positioning with lateral thumb pressure, and forms instrument-tied knots with minimal tissue contact. The TC tips grip monofilament and prolene sutures without slippage across all throw stages.
What sets Leader Surgical apart is something straightforward, the instruments arrive performing exactly as the specifications describe, meeting the standards that microsurgery demands without requiring a break-in period or any compromise at the operative field.
What is suture tying forceps used for?
Applications. Tying forceps are used in a variety of surgical procedures, including: Microsurgery: For the precise handling of sutures in delicate nerve and vascular structures. Ophthalmic surgery: For eye procedures requiring the highest precision, such as cataract surgery or retinal surgery.
