Double-ended periodontal surgical knife with spear-shaped blades designed for precise interproximal gingival incisions during periodontal flap procedures.

Key Features:
• Double-ended design with spear-shaped surgical blades
• One double-angled and one triple-angled blade configuration
• Sharp cutting edges along all sides of each blade tip
• Contra-angled shanks for improved posterior interproximal access
• Narrow blade profile for entry into tight embrasure spaces
• Overall instrument length approximately 165 mm (6.5 in)
• Round ringed knurled handle for controlled surgical grip
• Manufactured from surgical-grade stainless steel, autoclavable at 134°C

The Periodontal Knife – Orban – #1/2 (Article# LS1-323) is a double-ended gingivectomy instrument with two spear-shaped working ends — one double-angled and one triple-angled — each carrying sharp cutting edges on all sides of the blade. The contra-angled shank on each end bends toward the posterior arch, directing the spear tip into interproximal embrasures without handle obstruction on adjacent teeth. The round ringed knurled handle is machined from surgical-grade stainless steel, measuring 165 mm (6.5 inches) overall, balancing consistently at mid-handle during push and lateral incision strokes.

The dual-sided cutting edges on the Orban Knife 1/2 blade remain active simultaneously on entry and exit, allowing the clinician to incise interproximal tissue on both the insertion and withdrawal stroke without blade repositioning. The spear tip geometry keeps the blade narrow enough to penetrate the col area and interdental papilla base without lateral tissue displacement before the incision begins. The stainless-steel body withstands autoclave sterilization at 134°C without blade deformation or cutting-edge degradation across repeated clinical cycles.

Periodontists use the Periodontal Knife – Orban – #1/2 during gingivectomy, gingivoplasty, and modified Widman flap procedures to excise interproximal gingival tissue and execute secondary beveled incisions through keratinized gingiva. The KNIFE ORBAN 1/3 shank angulation on the triple-angled end provides additional reach into deep posterior embrasures on second and third molar sites where the double-angled end cannot access without repositioning the clinician’s hand.

When clinicians open a tray from Leader Surgical, they already know what to expect — instruments that are dimensionally consistent, properly finished, and ready to work from the first use.

What is the primary purpose of the 1/2 Orban Knife?
It is specifically designed for gingivectomy and gingivoplasty procedures. Its thin, spear-shaped blades are optimized for making incisions that remove or recontour soft tissue in interproximal (between teeth) and posterior areas.
