Mershon Band Pusher 14cm

Fourteen centimeters in overall length, the Mershon Band Pusher 14cm is a one-piece hand instrument forged entirely from medical-grade stainless steel, no joints, no hinges, no assembled components. The handle is a large rounded ergonomic body, wider and fuller than any flat-paddle or plier-handle instrument in this catalog series, designed to accept full-palm contact during band seating. The working shaft extends from the handle and angles at approximately 20 degrees toward the terminal tip, a five-sided rectangular working face with serrations machined across all active contact surfaces. Both the angle and the serration pattern are confirmed by the product image.

The five-sided serrated tip contacts the occlusal margin of the molar band during seating, with serrations preventing the tip from sliding off the band edge under direct pressure. The full-palm handle transmits body weight force straight through the one-piece shaft to the tip, a direct load path that conventional narrow handles cannot replicate. The angled shaft keeps the operator’s hand above the occlusal plane while the tip seats below it, maintaining clear sightlines to the band margin during final positioning. The instrument is fully autoclavable at 134°C.

Orthodontists use the Mershon Band Pusher 14cm during molar band cementation, applying direct occlusal pressure to seat zinc phosphate or glass ionomer cemented bands to their final marginal position on first and second molars. The Pusher Mershon Band 14cm is applied after initial finger pressure when the band requires a controlled final seating stroke to reach the cementoenamel junction.

Leader Surgical manufactures this instrument as a single-piece unit with verified tip-angle and serration depth specifications, eliminating joint failure points across the full Band pusher Mershon 14cm service life.

How does it differ from a “Bite Stick”?
Mershon Band Pusher
: Relies solely on the clinician’s manual hand pressure to seat or contour the band.

Bite Stick (Band Seater): Uses the patient’s own biting force to drive the band into place. It usually features a high-strength plastic handle with a small metal tip for the patient to bite against
