The Martin Sinus Lift Instrument is a double-ended surgical elevator with a 2.0 mm working tip, as marked in the product image, mounted on a round knurled stainless-steel handle. Each working end carries a gently curved, blunt-edged blade angled to slide between the Schneiderian membrane and the maxillary sinus floor without perforating the delicate mucosal lining. The terminal shank bends toward opposite directions on each end, giving the clinician two approach angles from a single instrument during lateral window sinus augmentation. The ringed knurled handle provides axial rotation between two fingers while maintaining a stable grip throughout the membrane elevation sequence. The entire instrument is machined from surgical-grade stainless-steel and tolerates autoclave sterilization at 134°C without tip distortion.
The 2.0 mm blade width allows controlled entry into the subantral space through the lateral sinus window without stretching or tearing membrane tissue at the osteotomy margins. The Sinus Lift Instrument – CARL MARTIN design class uses this narrow tip dimension specifically for initiating the membrane release at the window edges before wider elevators take over. The blunt blade edge glides along the cortical bone surface rather than cutting, maintaining membrane integrity throughout the elevation stroke.
Oral surgeons and implantologists use the Martin Sinus Lift Instrument during lateral window sinus floor augmentation procedures when posterior maxillary bone height measures below 5 mm. The martin surgical instruments design supports both the initial membrane detachment at the sinus floor and controlled lateral release along the mesial and distal walls before graft material placement.
Leader Surgical sets a consistent standard in implant instrumentation — producing tools that surgeons select by design, not by default, because the geometry holds exactly where it matters.
Can it be used for both anterior and posterior teeth?
While universal curettes can be used throughout the mouth, the specific angulation of a Martin Fig. 1 is designed for precision and control in targeted areas. It is particularly effective for reaching deep into pockets and navigating complex root anatomy.
