The Iris Scissors 11 cm (Curved) measure 11 cm in total length, the most compact and fine-tipped scissors in this instrument series, and feature a double-bend curved profile where the shank carries two independent directional changes from handle to tip. Both blades terminate in extremely sharp, fine-pointed tips, with one blade running a smooth cutting edge and the opposing blade carrying SuperCut micro-serrations. Tungsten carbide inserts bonded to both blades keep the cutting edges sharper longer and more resistant to bending than standard stainless steel. Gold-colored finger rings identify TC fitting on the sterile tray.
Iris Scissors Curved SuperCut 11cm instruments are finer than Metzenbaum scissors and suited for a wide variety of delicate operations, including precision suture removal. The double-bend geometry redirects the blade angle independently of wrist position, allowing access into confined anatomical recesses where a single-curve or straight instrument cannot align the fine tip with the target tissue without compromising hand position.
Iris Micro Dissecting Scissors (11cm) Curved Fine Point instruments are widely used in reconstructive surgery and eye surgeries, giving fine visibility alongside fine dissection. Ophthalmic surgeons use the Iris Scissors 11 cm (Curved) during anterior segment procedures to dissect conjunctival tissue and cut fine sutures adjacent to the corneal limbus. Plastic surgeons reach for this instrument in facial reconstructive procedures for delicate subcutaneous dissection where larger scissors would damage surrounding tissue. Neurosurgeons also select it during peripheral nerve repair for cutting fine epineural sutures and trimming nerve sheath tissue under microsurgical magnification.
The most demanding microsurgical procedures require the smallest instruments to perform consistently, Leader Surgical bonds TC inlays to every Iris scissor to the same standard, so the fine tips and blade sharpness remain dependable across the instrument’s full sterilization life.
What makes the “Double Bend” unique?
Unlike standard curved scissors, these feature an S-shape geometry where both the blades and the handle shanks are curved. This offset design allows your hand to remain out of the direct line of sight while the tips work in recessed areas.
