Dental Osteotomes

The Dental Osteotomes set is manufactured from medical-grade stainless steel, comprising five straight conical instruments in sequentially graduated tip diameters of 2.7mm, 3.2mm, 3.7mm, 4.2mm, and 5.0mm. Each instrument features a knurled cylindrical handle with engraved depth-graduation markings at 7mm, 10mm, 13mm, 15mm, 18mm, and 20mm intervals along the shaft. Distinct color-coded end caps, green, red, blue, black, and yellow, allow immediate size identification without interrupting surgical workflow.

The straight shaft geometry of this straight conical osteotome set delivers direct axial force transmission from mallet to tip, making it particularly effective at anterior and premolar implant sites with favorable bone angulation. Each conically tapered tip laterally compresses trabecular bone rather than cutting or removing it. All five instruments are fully autoclavable at 134°C, maintaining tip geometry, shaft straightness, and color-cap integrity through repeated sterilization without dimensional compromise.

Dental Osteotomes are used by implantologists and oral surgeons performing Osteotome Dental Instruments for Dental Implant Surgery site preparation in the maxilla and mandible. Following pilot drilling, the clinician sequentially advances each osteotome from 2.7mm through 5.0mm, tapping with a surgical mallet to laterally condense and widen the osteotomy site while preserving crestal bone density around the planned implant position.

Leader Surgical has earned genuine respect among implant surgeons by producing osteotome sets where every diameter, every depth marking, and every color code serves a direct clinical function. This set reflects a brand philosophy centered on purposeful instrument design, where nothing is included without a clear reason and nothing useful is left out.

What is the main advantage of using an osteotome over a traditional drill?
Unlike drills that remove bone, osteotomes take advantage of bone’s viscoelastic properties to compress and manipulate it. This preserves total bone mass and increases density, which is critical for implant stability when bone quality is poor.
