Twelve instruments, each addressing a specific access angle or tissue depth, that is the scope of the Tunnelling Instruments & Kits range spanning Article# LS9-533 through LS9-544. The series opens with three graduated tunneling instruments: #0 double-ended (1.8/1.0 mm), #1 double-ended (2.0/1.6 mm), and #2 double-ended (2.6/1.9 mm), each stepping up in tip width for progressively wider tunnel preparation. Two combination instruments (LS9-536 and LS9-537) pair a straight 1.8 mm working end with an angled 1.7 mm end on a single handle, addressing both straight and angled access in one instrument. Tunneling instruments #3 (LS9-538, 1.8 mm) and #4 (LS9-539, 2.5 mm) carry working ends bent at 45° to the shaft for subcrestal angulation. Each handle features a color-coded silicone grip with a dotted surface pattern for non-slip control during magnified operative work.

The tunnelling instrument range then transitions into four specialized periodontal knives. LS9-540 targets anterior tunneling access, LS9-541 addresses posterior regions through slightly curved tapered ends, and LS9-542 delivers double angulation for hard-to-reach posterior areas. LS9-543 serves split and full lobe preparation for connective tissue graft coverage and comb abutment work, using a minimally invasive undermining design that avoids large tissue swings. The range closes with LS9-544, a double-ended Periodontal Curette 10/17 for tunnel refinement and root surface instrumentation.

Periodontists and oral surgeons deploy the Tunnelling Instruments & Kits across connective tissue grafting, root coverage procedures, tunnel technique-based recession treatment, and minimally invasive periodontal surgery. The tunneling kit complete instrument progression eliminates the need for improvised substitutions at each operative stage.

Twelve instruments, one cohesive surgical logic, Leader Surgical builds each piece to the same stainless-steel standard, so the full range moves from cassette to operative field as a unified, reliable toolkit rather than a collection of individual parts.

What is the “dual-tip” feature found in some instruments?
Many tunneling instruments, such as those from Medesy, feature one sharp side for tissue detachment and one blunt side to prevent damage to adjacent soft tissues.
