Moveable Height Gauge
The Moveable Height Gauge is a double-ended stainless steel instrument measuring approximately 155mm in total length. Two articulating measurement heads; one at each terminus, are mounted on 90-degree pivot hinges, allowing each head to swing perpendicular to the shaft axis during use. The four bracket height measurements, 3.5mm, 4.0mm, 4.5mm, and 5.0mm, are laser-engraved on each head face, with the values confirmed visible in the product image at both ends. Three diamond-knurled grip bands run along the central shaft, distributing finger contact across the full handle for stable control. The Leader Surgical brand mark is engraved on the shaft body.
The 90-degree articulating head is the structural feature that sets this instrument apart from fixed-tip gauges. When measuring posterior bracket heights, the clinician pivots the head perpendicular to the shaft, aligning the blade tip against the occlusal surface of a premolar or molar without the shaft obstructing cheek or lip tissue. Both ends carry identical four-position heads, allowing the clinician to work from either grip orientation. The instrument is compatible with 0.018-inch and 0.022-inch bracket systems and is fully autoclavable at 134°C.
Orthodontists use the Moveable Height Gauge during full-arch bracket bonding, positioning it against the incisal or occlusal tooth edge to set vertical bracket height at each tooth before adhesive application. The Bracket Height Gauge Moveable head articulating design specifically addresses first and second premolar bracket positioning, where fixed-arm gauges lose alignment due to the curved arch form.
Leader Surgical manufactures this instrument with verified hinge-pivot angles and laser-engraved measurement tolerances at all four positions, meeting the full-arch coverage demands of the Positioning Gauge Height category across both 0.018″ and 0.022″ bracket prescription systems.
What is the scale for measuring height?
A stadiometer is a precision instrument made to measure standing height. It consists of a vertical measuring scale and a horizontal headpiece that rests on the crown of the head.
