The Periodontal Chisel Fedi #1 (Article# LS1-337) is a double-ended instrument with opposing straight blades, each 2.0 mm wide with semi-circular cutting edges on each side, set at a 10-degree angle. Both working ends mount on a straight terminal shank that keeps the blade face parallel to the long axis of the tooth during push strokes. The round ringed knurled handle is machined from surgical-grade stainless steel, measuring 165 mm (6.5 inches) overall, with the balance point centered at mid-handle for controlled push and pull action during interproximal access.
The straight 2.0 mm blade on the CHISEL FEDI N.1 positions it as the narrowest variant in the Fedi series, designed specifically for tight anterior interproximal spaces where wider chisels cannot enter without contacting adjacent root surfaces. The blade executes incisions that remove or recontour soft tissue and excises interproximal tissue, while also making secondary sulcular incisions in flap procedures and facilitating removal of remaining fibers on the tooth. The stainless-steel body tolerates autoclave sterilization at 134°C without blade geometry distortion across extended clinical use.
Periodontists use the Periodontal Chisel Fedi #1 during osseous resective surgery, modified Widman flap procedures, and crown lengthening on anterior teeth. The 1 Fedi Periodontal Chisel activates with short horizontal push strokes directed faciolingually through the open interproximal embrasure, severing the interdental papilla base and removing secondary palatal flap tissue without lateral tooth surface contact.
Leader Surgical knows that the instruments clinicians use daily need to perform identically on the hundredth use as on the first — and every chisel leaving this production line is built to that exact standard.
What is the primary use of a Fedi #1 chisel?
It is used for reshaping bone and removing or recontouring soft tissue during periodontal surgery. It is specifically effective for making secondary sulcular incisions in flap surgeries.
